Northridge Hospital Foundation's Annual Golf Classic raises $182,000

This year's Golf Classic was a huge success, we had a SOLD OUT EVENT with many physician groups in attendance!

Thanks to your help, we raised $182,000 toward the purchase of 3 new Intravascular Ultrasound Machines (IVUS). IVUS imaging offers advanced visualization that enables the physician to tailor treatment during a procedure. Thank you for helping us make this happen!

A special thanks to Mehrdad, Ariani, MD, Cardiologist for joining us at our reception and sharing the importance of this new purchase.

The Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) machines will be purchased for our Cardiology Department. The vast majority of stents placed in the United States are uniformly used to treat the more than 1.5 million acute coronary events annually. Intravascular imaging aims to identify the structural features and composition of the arterial wall, including vulnerable plaque. The IVUS is said to be one of the promising modalities used by interventional cardiologists, interventional radiologists, and vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons in our Cath Lab, Hybrid and OR rooms.

When used to evaluate the coronary arteries, IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound) can show the entire artery wall and provide important information about the amount and type of plaque buildup, which can help determine if you are at risk for heart attack. The use of the IVUS equipment is associated with better long-term cardiovascular outcomes,” says Mehrdad Ariani, MD, Cardiologist.

We are so proud to be able to continue the great work of the Lake Family who has continued to support us since the passing of one of our greatest supporters, Mr. Bill Lake in 2012. Along with Mr. Lake, we honor the legacy of three board members who were also long-time supporters of our tournament: Mr. Darell Norris, Mr. Donald Gloisten, and Mr. Frederic “Fritz” Benning.
