21st Annual "Helping Hands" Holiday Jam

The Foundation and the Hospital, in partnership with many community partners and donors, were able to spread joy to nearly 300 children in our community! This 21st annual event was even sweeter because it could be held once again be in-person. Five local elementary schools including Blythe Elementary, Cantara Elementary, Michelle Obama Elementary, Panorama City Elementary, & Parthenia Elementary were invited on Friday, December 10th to the Northridge Hospital Campus to enjoy a day of fun activities, carnival games, a game truck, lunch and even a special visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

The children invited to participate are part of the “Title1/No Child Left Behind” program that provides financial assistance to local agencies for the education of children of low-income families. For many of these children, this may be their only Christmas.

For the past 20 years the Holiday Jam has been a holiday highlight for many children and we are so thankful to have been able to provide this event! Thank you to our volunteer partners: CSUN athletics, Granada Hills Rotary, San Fernando Assistance League, Premier America Credit Union, Calcom Credit Union, Nickelodeon Actors, NHMC staff & volunteers, NHMC Pet Therapy team.

Highlights from our 2020 "Helping Hands" Holiday Jam

"Helping Hands" Holiday Jam hit the streets of the San Fernando Valley to spread cheer!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Northridge Hospital Foundation and Northridge Hospital Medical Center were not be able to host the 20th Annual “Helping Hands” Holiday Jam.

HOWEVER… the tradition had to go on!

The Foundation and the Hospital, in partnership with many community partners and donors, were able to spread joy and kindness throughout the San Fernando Valley! Five local elementary schools including Blythe Elementary, Cantara Elementary, Michelle Obama Elementary, Panorama City Elementary, & Parthenia Elementary received a special delivery in early December, 300 gift bags were delivered to children attending these schools. The children are part of the “Title1/No Child Left Behind” program that provides financial assistance to local agencies for the education of children of low-income families. For many of these children, this may be their only Christmas.

A Special Message from a few of the Principals...

“Thank you so much for your great generosity!!! The Hummingbirds at Panorama City Elementary School greatly appreciated your donation and sacrifice! You have brought smiles and joy to so many of our families in need this holiday season. Our students and their parents were so surprised and appreciative of the gifts that my heart is still smiling!! Thank you and all your donors from the bottom of my heart!”

Olivia Flores-Torres, Principal

Panorama City Elementary School

“We are so very thankful for the partnership with Northridge Hospital Foundation and the Hospital. The Holiday Jam gifts we received for our kindergarten children helped brighten the holidays for our students during these unprecedented times. Thank you so much!”

Carmen Dominguez, Principal

Michelle Obama Elementary School

"Parthenia Academy of Arts and Technology once again was treated to the most wonderful spirit of Christmas by the staff of the Northridge Hospital Medical Center.  The generosity of the staff of NHMC enabled 75 second grade students to receive gifts that might not ordinarily be possible, especially in today's climate.  The smiles on the students' faces said it all.  They were thrilled.  Parents were so appreciative. All of our teachers and students want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Brian Hammel and all of the staff at NHMC.   You continue to heal our community beyond the walls of the medical center."

Phillip Hollis, Principal

Parthenia Academy of Arts and Technology
