18th Annual C·A·T·S Virtual Victory for Victims Run/Walk Raises $102,736

Like many others that worked all year to plan their 2020 annual fundraising walk/runs in the spring, we had to make a decision to either cancel, reschedule, or change our live event to a virtual one due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Not knowing how long the “Safer at Home” and public gathering restrictions would be in force, we decided to move our C·A·T·S Victory for Victims Run/Walk from a live event to a virtual one, keeping our April 25, 2020 date in place.

One of the main benefits of holding a virtual run was, while individuals, pets, or families walked or ran alone. They could still feel like they are taking part in a good cause with a group of others on the same day.  Participants that registered for the 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Run still received their T-Shirts and finisher medals and those that signed up for the 1-MileDog Walk received  dog bandanas and finisher medals.  This year the runners received a purple (color for Domestic Violence) Dri-fit performance T-shirt that we received great compliments on.

Special thanks to our five largest hospital-based teams 3-Farr NHMC, Foodie Bunch, Lab Rats, Wellness Committee, and Go Rehab and to all of you that sign up individually with your family members.  Our largest hospital-based donors were Susan Bales and Sal Romo.  Our larger community-based teams were IMT Residential, Arleta Neighborhood Council, Limerick Elementary School, and Hamer Toyota.

This experience, whether live or virtual, was rewarding and memorable for new and seasoned runners and walkers. They continue to help “Break the Silence and End the Abuse” with every step they took or dollar they raised.
