NHMC’s Center for Assault Treatment Services (C⋅A⋅T⋅S) hosted the 16th Annual “Victory for Victims 5K/10K Walk/Run on April 21 at Woodley Park, Van Nuys.  One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event will benefit the C⋅A⋅T⋅S, which is the only 24-hour/7-day-per-week program providing forensic medical evidentiary examinations and interviews in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys for victims of domestic and sexual violence and child sexual and physical abuse.

During the opening ceremonies,  Aurian Chisholm, representing Van Nuys High School sang the National Anthem.  Each year, three awards are presented that honor people and organizations that support the work of C⋅A⋅T⋅S.  This year’s honorees included Lynda Levitan, receiving the Jackie Lacey "Voice of the Community" Award; Kevin and Mare Wachs, Earthly Body receiving the Chuck Street "Sky's the Limit" Award; and Office Valley Bureau Human Trafficking Task Force, receiving the Rafer Johnson "Medal of Justice" Award.  Councilwoman Nury Martinez’ office presented all awardees with certificates.
