Victory for Victims 5K/10K Walk/Run 

Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital’s Center for Assault Treatment Services (C⋅A⋅T⋅S) hosted the 15th Annual “Victory for Victims 5K/10K Walk/Run on April 22nd at Lake Balboa Park. Proceeds from this event go directly to the Center, which is the only 24-hour/7-day-per-week program providing forensic medical evidentiary examinations and interviews in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys for victims of domestic and sexual violence and child sexual abuse.

The fun-filled event kicked off with opening remarks, awards and warm-ups. Each year three awards are presented that honor people and organizations that support the work of C⋅A⋅T⋅S. This year’s honorees included Dennis McCarthy, Journalist, receiving the Jackie Lacey "Voice of the Community" Award; Mechanix Wear receiving the Chuck Street "Sky's the Limit" Award; and Edward Lowder, MD (C⋅A⋅T⋅S founder) receiving the Rafer Johnson "Medal of Justice" Award. Councilwoman Nury Martinez office presented (C⋅A⋅T⋅S) with a certificate for all its dedicated work within the community and Congressman Brad Sherman’s office presented (C⋅A⋅T⋅S) with a flag that flew over the White House.

Then, 1,348 runners were off to the races, many of them as members of the 58 registered teams. Upon crossing the finish line, all enjoyed the 45 booths in our Expo. All participants received finisher medals and t-shirts! Our Kids fun zone included a new inflatable obstacle course and rock climbing wall, participants also enjoyed amazing food from Los Toros, Nature's Bakery, Panera, Ben & Jerrys and Nestle and Nutritish and learned.
