“Helping Hands Holiday Jam Event for Children
A Heart-Warming Holiday Event

Their smiling faces said it best!

Friday, December 6, 2019, was a fun filled day at Northridge Hospital Medical Center for over 300 children that were invited to join in on the celebrations for the “Annual Helping Hands Holiday Jam.”

Northridge Hospital Foundation and Dignity Health – Northridge Hospital Medical Center (NHMC), in partnership with many community partners and donors, turned an ordinary parking lot into a child’s holiday extravaganza! Children between the ages of seven and ten from five local Elementary Schools in our area were welcomed.

The weather was perfect and the children had an amazing time. Each child was treated to lunch, cotton candy, churros, popcorn and so much more!  Each child went home with a backpack filled with presents from Santa & Mrs. Claus and an individual photo with them. Hair painting, as well as face painting, seemed to be the two most popular activities.

The children participated in carnival games, coloring, arts and crafts and video games in a mobile gaming truck!  For most, this may be the only Christmas they have this holiday season.  Teachers say the children look forward to this day from the first day of school.  Some of the comments we heard from the children were priceless … “I can’t wait to get home and play this game with my sister”; “I have never had a teddy bear – thank you”; “Did you know I was born here”; “This is my favorite day of the year.”

We extend a huge “Thank You" to L.A. City Councilmembers Bob Blumenfeld, District 3; Nury Martinez, District 6; John Lee, District 1; the Northridge Hospital Foundation, Foundation Board Members Tony Torres, Clark & Mary Grim, and Frank & Valerie Kohler, the Harold & Carole Pump Foundation, Todd Amirian, Premier America Credit Union, Planet Hope, United Airlines, The San Fernando Assistance League, Calcom Credit Union, The Love Box Group, CSUN, Imperial Toys and Fire Station 73 for their help in underwriting this great event!
