Golden Hour Guild

Founded in 1984, The Golden Hour Guild took its name from the “Golden Hour” – a term given to the critical first hour of care after a traumatic injury that can make all the difference in saving lives and improving recoveries. The Golden Hour Guild was formed to support Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital's Trauma Center and then its Richie Pediatric Trauma Center, and help them evolve into the state-of-the-art facilities they are today, through fundraising for needed equipment.

Two dynamic women established the Golden Hour Guild in 1985: Joan Geisbush, the founding president, and Susan Miller, the vice president. Through their dedication and active participation, the Guild has helped the Northridge Hospital Trauma Center evolve into a state-of-the-art facility that saves lives and helps prevent permanent disability. The term trauma center refers to a hospital that maintains specialized equipment and a panel of physician specialists, including a trauma surgeon, who are available 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week specifically to treat trauma patients. Northridge Hospital is both an Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center with a systematic approach to trauma.

Sadly, all good things eventually come to an end.  After raising more than $2 million dollars over the last 35 years for our Adult & Pediatric Trauma Centers, the Golden Hour Guild was retired in 2019.

The last Golden Hour Guild fundraiser, the Annual Brunch, was a day filled with delicious food, auctions, fun, laughter, memories and farewells. Shawki Saad, MD, and the attending physicians presented heartwarming stories of their special trauma patients. Special recognition was given to long-time supporter, co-founder and Guild President Ms. Joan Geisbush for her many years of leadership and dedication to the Guild. During the tenures of Ms. Geisbush and other Guild leaders Ms. Susan Miller and Mrs. Valerie Kohler, they worked tirelessly alongside the other Guild members to put on the fabulous event and raise money each year in support our trauma centers. The efforts of the Golden Hour Guild will be greatly missed.
